Andrew Atkinson Livestock - Solar PV & Battery Storage
Energy Oasis delivered a tailored Solar PV and Battery Storage solution for Andrew Atkinson Livestock, helping the farming business cut energy costs and gain greater control over long-term operating expenses.
With electricity prices remaining unpredictable, investing in on-site generation and storage allows farms to stabilise costs. Andrew Atkinson Livestock is now producing 51% of its electricity directly from solar, significantly reducing reliance on grid supplied power.
Testimonial
“We've been delighted with Energy Oasis. They've made the process from start to finish extremely simple. Right from the design process through to the installation, they've taken such care and professionalism through every step of the process. 30.8 kW Solar PV Installation Breakdown
Energy Oasis designed a high-performance solar PV system to align with the farm’s daytime demand profile and available roof space. The installation was engineered to maximise self consumption and deliver reliable performance in an agricultural setting. The system included:
70 x Trina 440W Vertex S Solar PV Modules: High-efficiency panels selected to maximise generation across the available roof space.
SolarEdge SE10k Inverter with Power Optimisers: Providing panel-level optimisation to enhance generation and maintain performance consistency across the array.
SolarEdge Advanced WiFi Monitoring System: Allowing live visibility of generation and system performance, ensuring transparency and ongoing performance tracking.
SolarEdge Home Battery (9.7 kWh): Enabling surplus daytime electricity to be stored and used during higher demand periods, increasing on-site utilisation and strengthening energy independence.
With a projected six-year return on investment and a system lifespan exceeding 25 years, the installation provides long-term cost certainty while supporting more sustainable farming operations.
Funding Support
This project was supported through the Business Sustainability Programme, delivered by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. The programme provided grant funding to help businesses and farms across the region invest in measures that improved energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and strengthened long-term resilience.
Funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the programme supported organisations in implementing sustainability improvements identified through energy audits and feasibility studies. Projects funded through the scheme contributed to the region’s wider ambition to reduce emissions while helping businesses lower energy costs and improve operational efficiency.
Through this funding support, Andrew Atkinson Livestock was able to progress the installation of solar PV, enabling the business to generate renewable electricity on-site and take a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint and energy costs.
