Empowering a Rural Farm with Sustainable Microgrid Solution

Energy Oasis partnered with a rural farm to address the challenges of energy reliance and rising costs. By implementing a 50kW ground mount scheme and utilising tier 1 PV panels and Solaredge Inverters, Energy Oasis paved the way for the farm's own microgrid. This innovative solution, which includes solar power, a heat pump, an existing small-scale wind turbine, and a battery, will reduce dependence on the grid by 90%, providing complete energy security, lower bills, and a greener future.

The rural farm, like many others, operated without connection to the mains gas grid. It relied on a combination of fuel oil and grid electricity to power various businesses within its premises, in addition to the family home. Faced with increasing energy costs and the desire to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, the farm sought a sustainable solution to mitigate these challenges.

Project Background

Energy Oasis proposed and implemented a 50kW ground mount scheme, leveraging tier 1 PV panels and SolarEdge Inverters. This initial phase laid the foundation for the farm's ambitious plan to create a comprehensive microgrid. The farm's vision included integrating a heat pump for the home, solar power, and a battery into their green energy infrastructure, diminishing their reliance on the grid to just 10% of their energy needs.
